Alternatives that meet or exceed these figures
Engineers often come to us with a Beckhoff Automation part number and leave with an alternative that is easier to source, quicker to deliver or a better fit for the machine. These 3 series from our supply network are the closest match on published figures.
Kinco's current-generation AC servo motor line, matched to the JD2 and FD5P PRO drives. Small-inertia 40-80 mm frames run at 3000 rpm on 220 V; large-inertia 130 and 180 mm frames are 1500 rpm machines reaching 47.8 Nm rated and 7.5 kW, with 23-bit multi-turn absolute encoders as standard.

Figures are the highest published for each series and are not always measured the same way. A higher figure is not automatically a better choice: mounting, duty cycle, feedback, connectors and approvals matter too. An engineer will check the fit against your application before recommending anything.
What an integrated servo motor is
An integrated servo motor combines the servo motor, drive and feedback, and often a motion controller, in one housing. Power and communications connect directly to the motor, often over a single hybrid cable or a shared DC bus, so there is no separate drive in the cabinet. Control is by pulse, analogue, fieldbus or industrial Ethernet, and many units support stored motion profiles. The motor is usually brushless with an absolute or high-resolution encoder.
When engineers choose an integrated servo motor
Choose an integrated servo for distributed or modular machines, AGVs, and where cabinet space and wiring are limited. Fewer components and shorter cables simplify installation. The trade-offs are heat, power range and service: electronics sit on the motor in the machine environment, power is typically limited to a few hundred watts or a few kilowatts, and a failure means replacing the whole unit. For high-power or harsh-environment axes, separate drives are often better.
How to specify the Beckhoff Automation AMP8000
Send these with your enquiry and an engineer can confirm the right AMP8000 variant or an equivalent:
- Power and continuous torque (W, Nm)
- Speed (rpm)
- Supply voltage: low-voltage DC or mains (V)
- Communication interface and protocol
- Feedback type and absolute position
- Safety functions such as STO
- IP code, ambient temperature and connectors
Common mistakes to avoid
- Mounting in a hot location and derating the integrated electronics
- Assuming all protocols are supported on all variants
- Leaving out STO where the risk assessment requires it
- Forgetting about spares when drive and motor are one part
Beckhoff Automation AMP8000: frequently asked questions
What is the Beckhoff Automation AMP8000?
Servo motor with the drive built into the motor housing, fed over a single EtherCAT P hybrid cable so axes can be placed on the machine without a control cabinet. Published series figures include peak torque 37.2 Nm, continuous torque 10.75 Nm, power 2,170 W. It is made by Beckhoff Automation GmbH & Co. KG; Specify Motion can help source it or propose an equivalent.
Who makes the Beckhoff Automation AMP8000?
The Beckhoff Automation AMP8000 is made by Beckhoff Automation (Beckhoff Automation GmbH & Co. KG) and is listed here for engineers comparing options. Specify Motion is not affiliated with Beckhoff Automation GmbH & Co. KG; brand names are used only to identify the product.
What is the peak torque of the Beckhoff Automation AMP8000?
The published series maximum peak torque is 37.2 Nm. Individual models and sizes in the AMP8000 range vary, so check the exact variant against your duty cycle, mounting and environment, or ask our engineers to confirm the right size for you.
Is there an alternative to the Beckhoff Automation AMP8000?
Yes. On published figures, Kinco SMK Series AC Servo Motors (SMK40S/60S/80S, SMK130G, SMK180G) and Kinco SMK Series Low-Voltage DC Servo Motors are the closest match from our supply network. An engineer confirms the fit against your application before recommending anything.
What are the benefits of an integrated servo motor?
An integrated servo reduces cabinet space, wiring and installation time because the drive is built into the motor. Shorter motor cables reduce EMC issues. This suits modular and mobile machines. The trade-off is that the electronics share the motor's environment and the whole unit must be replaced on a fault.
Do integrated servo motors support safe torque off?
Many do, as an option on selected models. STO removes power that could produce torque without removing the supply, and is used as a safety function in machine guarding. Check the safety integrity level or performance level achieved and that the variant you choose includes it.
