What are you specifying?

Select everything you need. A motor, drive and gearbox can be specified together as one axis.

In short:A traction selection needs wheel torque and speed across the vehicle duty. Battery limits, regeneration, gearing, holding and steering arrangements also matter.

Start at the floor contact

State loaded vehicle mass, wheel diameter, number of driven wheels, maximum speed, acceleration and gradients. Add rolling resistance assumptions, floor conditions and the load distribution between driven and support wheels. Turning or manoeuvring can create demands that a straight-line calculation misses.

Use wheel speed and force to build the motor requirement through the selected gearbox. Include continuous travel, acceleration, deceleration and repeated stops. A motor sized only for cruising may lack peak capability; a peak-only selection may overheat during sustained travel or on a slope.

Define the real battery range

Nominal battery voltage is not the complete electrical envelope. Provide the minimum and maximum working voltage, available current, protection limits and charging arrangement. Check logic supply needs separately from the motor-power input.

A drive also needs an acceptable path for deceleration energy. Whether the battery can absorb regeneration depends on the actual system, operating state and protection strategy. A nominally suitable voltage range does not establish that the electrical architecture is ready for all stopping conditions.

Compare individual and integrated arrangements

A separate motor and gearbox provides one set of mechanical and service choices. An integrated drive wheel or motor-drive assembly offers another. Compare installation space, wheel loads, feedback, networking, cabling and replacement access rather than assuming that fewer separate components always means an easier integration.

Record steering architecture and whether the same controller coordinates traction and steering. Matching a fieldbus name is not enough to establish support for the required control modes, timing and firmware combination.

Safety and holding remain system decisions

Explain the parking or holding requirement, behaviour on a gradient and assessed stopping strategy. A motor holding brake is not automatically rated for repetitive dynamic stopping. Component selection supports the vehicle design; it does not establish conformity or approve the safety of the mobile robot.

Send vehicle mass, wheel dimensions, speed, acceleration, gradient, operating cycle and battery envelope. We can discuss low-voltage motors, drives and gearing through the supply network, with the exact models and integration responsibilities confirmed for the enquiry.

Product ranges to discuss

These are starting points from the catalogue, rather than a confirmed selection. Options within a series vary; an engineer must check the exact configuration.

Turn the requirement into an enquiry

Send the application, quantities and deadline, plus any existing model codes. We can discuss the original part, alternatives or a matched package. Compatibility, availability and supply arrangements are confirmed for the specific enquiry.
