Who Delta Electronics is

Delta Electronics is a Taiwanese manufacturer best known for power electronics: power supplies, fans and thermal management, energy infrastructure and electric vehicle charging. Alongside these sits an industrial automation business that makes AC servo systems, motion controllers, PLCs, HMIs, AC drives and industrial networking. This profile concentrates on the servo and motion products, which are the parts most relevant to machine builders.

The company was founded in 1971 and states its mission as providing innovative, clean and energy-efficient solutions. It reports consolidated sales revenue of USD 17.9 billion for 2025, spends 8 to 9 percent of annual revenue on research and development, and operates 165 sales offices, 55 manufacturing sites and 73 R&D centres.

History and ownership

Delta Electronics, Inc. is the parent of the group, headquartered at No. 186, Ruiguang Road in Taipei’s Neihu District. Its website lists a family of group companies, among them Delta Electronics (Thailand), Cyntec, LOYTEC, March Networks, Trihedral Engineering, Universal Instruments and VIVOTEK, reflecting expansion into building automation, video and electronics assembly equipment.

In Europe, Delta opened its first office in Switzerland in 1987. The EMEA region is now run from a green building in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands, opened in 2017, and Delta EMEA reports about 2,900 employees, 15 R&D centres, 31 sales offices and four manufacturing plants.

Servo drives and motors

Delta’s AC servo products are the ASDA family. Its product listing marks older series such as ASDA-A, ASDA-A+, ASDA-B and ASDA-AB as discontinued, with ASDA-A3, ASDA-B3 and ASDA-E3 named as their replacements.

ASDA-A3

The ASDA-A3 is the advanced series. Delta’s CODESYS motion catalogue gives 100 W to 3 kW on 200 V and 400 W to 7.5 kW on 400 V, with EtherCAT versions aimed at short cycle times and high-speed multi-axis synchronisation. The matching ECM-A3 motors use 24-bit optical or magnetic encoders.

ASDA-B3

The ASDA-B3 is the standard series, covering 100 W to 3 kW on 200–230 V and 1 to 7.5 kW on 380–440 V. Delta quotes 24-bit drive resolution (16,777,216 counts per revolution) and a speed loop bandwidth up to 3.1 kHz, against 0.5 kHz for the older ASDA-B2. Variants take pulse commands at up to 4 Mpps, CANopen, DMCNET or EtherCAT with a 125 µs sync cycle. STO is available on the ASDA-B3A versions. The ECM-B3 servo motors run from about 0.1 to 7.5 kW, 0.32 to 47.75 Nm rated and up to 119 Nm peak, at up to 6,000 rpm on 3,000 rpm models, and reach IP67 with sealed connectors and shaft seals.

Multi-axis drives

The ASDA-M puts three axes in one frame on 220 V supplies, at 750 W or 1.5 kW per axis, with 20-bit incremental feedback, a frequency response up to 1 kHz and CANopen or DMCNET. Delta also lists the ASDA-W3, which its press material describes as a multi-axis system with up to 12 axes per module. Our servo drives hub explains when a multi-axis drive on a shared DC bus is worth it.

Motion controllers and PLCs

Delta’s motion controllers are built on CODESYS and IEC 61131-3. The AX-8 motion controller is PC-based, on an Intel Celeron J1900 quad-core, and handles up to 64 axes, with a 1 ms synchronous cycle quoted for 64 real and virtual axes. The AX-3 motion CPU is the PLC-format option: the AX-308E controls eight EtherCAT servo axes at a 2 ms minimum sync time and expands to 32 I/O modules. AX-5 standard and safety CPUs, couplers and expansion modules extend the platform. Our motion controllers hub covers how to choose between PC-based and PLC-format controllers.

Technologies and standards

Delta’s newer servo generation concentrates on high encoder resolution (24 bits on A3 and B3), higher speed loop bandwidth and EtherCAT with CiA 402 behaviour, while still offering pulse-train and its own DMCNET network for retrofit and cost-sensitive machines. The ASDA-B3 220 V models with STO are certified to IEC/EN 61800-5-2 at SIL 2, according to Delta’s catalogue.

Industries served

Delta’s application material for the servo range covers tyre cord splicing, motor winding, gantries and linear actuators, and its CODESYS catalogue positions the A3-E for high-speed multi-axis synchronisation and the B3-E for straightforward gantry control. Our packaging and food and semiconductor and electronics pages describe the motion demands of those sectors.

Global and UK presence

Delta runs its automation business worldwide from Taipei, with EMEA managed from Hoofddorp. Delta’s public global operations and contact pages do not list a UK office address or phone number; UK buyers typically reach Delta through the EMEA contact routes or through Delta’s partner network.

Sourcing Delta parts through Specify Motion

Specify Motion is independent of Delta Electronics and is not affiliated with it. We can help you source Delta servo drives, motors and motion controllers for an existing machine, or propose equivalent parts from our supply network on published figures where a second source makes sense. The find a replacement form is the quickest way to send us a part number or nameplate.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Delta Electronics website?

The group website is deltaww.com. Its Industrial Automation section lists the servo, motion control, PLC, HMI, drive and fieldbus ranges, each with links to the Delta download centre for catalogues, manuals and software. Regional content for Europe, the Middle East and Africa is published under Delta EMEA.

What is Delta Electronics' phone number?

Delta's global operations page lists the Taipei headquarters on +886 2 8797 2088. For product enquiries, the website routes visitors through an online contact form with an Industrial Automation category rather than publishing a general sales email on the contact page.

Where is Delta Electronics' headquarters?

The headquarters is at No. 186, Ruiguang Road, Neihu District, Taipei City 114501, Taiwan. Delta reports a global network of 165 sales offices, 55 manufacturing sites and 73 R&D centres, with the EMEA region managed from Hoofddorp in the Netherlands.

Who owns Delta Electronics?

The parent company is Delta Electronics, Inc. of Taiwan. Its website lists a set of Delta Group companies, including Delta Electronics (Thailand), Cyntec, LOYTEC, March Networks, Trihedral Engineering, Universal Instruments and VIVOTEK. Delta reported consolidated sales revenue of USD 17.9 billion for 2025.

Does Delta Electronics have a UK presence?

Delta serves the UK through its EMEA organisation, headquartered in Hoofddorp, which reports about 2,900 employees and 31 sales offices across the region. Delta's global operations and contact pages do not publish a UK street address or phone number, so UK engineers usually start with the Delta EMEA contact form or a Delta partner.

What servo and motion products does Delta make?

Delta's servo range includes the ASDA-A3 advanced and ASDA-B3 standard drives, the multi-axis ASDA-W3 and ASDA-M, and ECM-series servo motors. For motion control it offers the PC-based AX-8, the AX-3 motion CPU and AX-5 CPUs, all programmed in CODESYS. Delta also makes PLCs, HMIs, AC drives and industrial Ethernet and fieldbus products.
